The Judi Awards

In June, 1997 I had a lady who'd become upset over a couple of jokes about blondes. Ehh, shit happens. That day was her turn in the barrel.

She wrote me her complaints and I thought it was a joke. Her writing was so atrocious that I figured she was simply an intelligent person attempting to portray herself as a stupid blonde.

I was wrong. She was for real.

So I blasted her back. And she returned fire. And on. Was one of the better flames.

And it also started a tradition that carries forward to this day: The Judi Awards.

When people display stupidity beyond the call of duty, when they're so obviously dumb that it makes your eyes water, and, frankly, when I'm in a mood to do some verbal jousting, I award a Judi.

They're rare. In fact, the awards below are the only ones we've issued since we started on January 1, 1997. We really try to keep 'em to a minimum, because true stupidity is a rare thing. Random every day boneheadedness, unfortunately, is alive and well. Judi Award winners take the cake.

Since Judi has been around, it's become almost legendary. I get tons of letters from people who call co-workers Judi in a cackling high pitched laugh. Judi is the butt of many jokes on Joke A Day. Her name has become synonymous with "stupidity".

I've also noticed some "Judi-bait" letters. If you're thinking of winning a Judi yourself, odds are (1) I'll spot you a mile away and (2) I'll tire of you and simply block your email address from sending me any further mail. (Can you imagine not being able to get off the listing because you can't send the unsubscribe notice because I've banned your email address from the jokeaday.com domain?)

In any case, I hope you enjoy these. Many of these are taken right from the email the day they originated and have all kinds of quirky historical stuff in 'em.
